When it was almost possible to think that the sound of the rock genre was in decline and losing importance and relevance, The Warning emerged. But this pleasant musical event well deserved to be spread on my blog under the particular and sincere look of this humble servant, setting aside the clichés and from the point of view of someone who once dreamed of dedicating himself to being the Manager of a promising rock band, and ended up being an inveterate music lover, who enjoys reviewing everything that is attractive and phenomenal.
These three girls are so young, their trajectory so recent (and updated on social networks) that they would be among my preferences, much less me, in their profile as a public or listener, but a great friend sent me one of their promotional videos and when I finished watching it I was excited to know something more about them, and I discovered that The Warning were born on YouTube, and are part of that new Latin rock blood, which began with the dream of three sisters Mexicans, from Monterrey, Nuevo León, with fresh musical interests and a simple and clear desire to advance and improve with a firm step and admirable dedication.
They began their career thanks to the benefits of the Internet in 2001, making their first versions of successful rock bands, which little by little gave them the opportunity to drink from those roots and then give consistency to their own sound.
I have enjoyed knowing and appreciating their trajectory and evolution, all the paradigms vanished, leaving me with a very forceful joy, a genuine emotion because I am Hispanic, a rocker and a lover of good bands and the musical work of these very young girls, expresses a clear professional development, an admirable effort that is distinguished in each release and in its prodigious artistic evolution.
The Warning are Daniela “Dany” Villarreal (January 30, 2000) - Vocalist, piano and guitar, Paulina “Pau” Villarreal (February 5, 2002) - Vocalist, choirs, piano and drums, and Alejandra “Ale” Villarreal (December 13, 2004) - Choirs, piano and bass. His first musical work was an EP released in 2015, with 6 wonderful songs of his own entitled “Escape Of Mind”. His sound here is very innocent, poetic and quite pleasant to listen to.
Then their first record came out two years later in 2017, appropriately titled “XXI Century Blood.” His sound evolves, becoming more powerful and optimistic. It resembles that of the North American band Paramore. It contains a solid production and the sound of each theme made it one of my favorite albums, revealing to me with total and resounding sincerity what these girls were capable of since their puberty. Includes two powerful live tracks.
His second album “Queen Of The Murder Scene” was released in 2018. It is his first concept album, which is divided into four parts or chapters that group 13 great songs. It’s an album that moves away in part from the upbeat sound, to take us into darker and denser but wonderful lands! I love contrasts, and this album shows a very interesting facet of his musical talents. Listen to it in full to appreciate it as it deserves!
In 2019 The Warning releases its first own song in Spanish titled “Narcisista”. A theme that seeks to expand their versatility as bilingual interpreters. In this stupendous song, Paulina Villarreal shines as the lead singer, while she makes her forceful drums sound marvelous.
The highlight of The Warning (so far) comes with a new EP, the second in their meteoric career, titled “Mayday” (2021). Solid, aggressive, powerful, spectacular, whose brilliant promotional videos already show that nothing is missing for them to culminate in adding a rest of wonderful songs, to give shape to a formidable third album. Audience receptivity and interactions with the band predict the above. Turn up the volume and let yourself fly by this wonderful power trio!
A special mention requires the song “Animosity” and its very good promotional video. The song was accompanied with images from the hit story "I’m The Grave Reaper" created by artist Graveweaver, and uploaded to the Webtoon website. I loved the result because both concepts fit very well!
“Martirio” is his second own song sung in Spanish. Your beautiful video is flawlessly shot in a desert. It has an ambiguous aura of light and dark that is engaging and very much in keeping with the song.

The Warning’s live versions of the “Mayday” songs were a smart move because no band ever sounds the same in the studio as it lives, and The Warning sound GREAT playing that way! When you compare them to those home recordings, with the instruments (almost) bigger and heavier than them, that’s when you say: Wow! How these “girls” have grown so fast!... They matured, learned and are ready to embrace and take away all doubts about outdated “rock and roll”!
Her music brings us back a renewed, fresh and powerful new proposal! I share the song “Money” (2022), which I loved and I feel so spectacular and electrifying and even much more attractive than the new one from the veterans Muse, (keeping my distance), but that’s how I’ve perceived it. Keep up the good work, girls!
And I’ve updated the post because they’re already on tour and doing great! Since last June 24, The Warning has released its third full-length, entitled “ERROR” (2022) Splendid news! I celebrate your success and total acceptance! I love the cover art!
